On 5th December, from 1pm to 2pm, there will be another session of the FEUP Reading Club. For this session we have invited Germano Silva, a journalist and historian from the city of Porto.
An iconic figure in national journalism, Germano Silva began working at Jornal de Notícias in 1956 asa trainee and ended his journalistic career as Editor-in-Chief. During his professional life he also collaborated with other newspapers and magazines. He retired in 1996 and has since dedicated his life to the history of the city of Porto, passing on the knowledge he acquired during his years as a reporter in Porto.
He was also awarded gold medals of merit by the Porto and Penafiel city councils. In 2015 he was awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Porto and in 2017 he was awarded the Order of Merit, rank of Commander, by the President of the Republic Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
Come with us on this ‘guided tour’ through the memories, stories and curiosities of the city of Porto.
