The FEUP Library's "Vamos a Livros" celebrates the centenary of Agustina Bessa-Luís' birth, gathering some of the most emblematic works of her literary career. Her works reveal a deep reflection of the human condition, with A Sibila being one of the exponents of that reflection. Her work has been awarded the most important national literary prizes: National Novel Prize in 1967; Ricardo Malheiros Prize of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences in 1966 and 1977; PEN Club and D. Dinis Prize in 1980; Grand Prize for Romance and Novel of the Portuguese Writers' Association in 1984 and the City of Oporto Prize; the Vergílio Ferreira Prize 2004, awarded by the University of Évora for her career as a fictionist, and the Camões Prize 2004.
On 22nd March 2005 she was distinguished, together with the poet Eugénio de Andrade, with the doctorate "Honoris Causa", awarded by the University of Oporto.
During October you can borrow the author's works on Level 0 of the FEUP Library.
On October 19 we will also have another edition of the "Reading Club", under the same theme of the centenary of Agustina Bessa-Luís' birth. Soon we will share detailed information about this event.
