On March 16th, from 1pm to 2pm, another edition of the FEUP Reading Club will take place. The session will be conducted by Mário Moura, Professor of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto. João Aires de Sousa, who works for the FEUP Library will be in charge of the moderation. This edition of the Reading Club will take place on Level 0 of the FEUP Library.
In the session "The comic strip - from newspaper to social networks", Mário Moura will focus on Comics, an artistic expression that combines text and image to tell stories, true or fictional.
The first comic strip appeared in newspapers in the 18th century. It was mainly in the 19th and 20th centuries that this field of plastic and literary creation gained strength, developing most vigorously in the USA and then spreading to Europe. It is usually published in magazines, books or in strips published in newspapers. Nowadays it is also published digitally on websites under the name of webcomics. In the session "The comic strip - from newspaper to social media" the history of the comic strip and its particularities will be explored.
