Saramago 100: opening of the celebrations for the centenary of José Saramago

Saramago 100: comemorações do centenário de José Saramago

On the opening of the celebrations for the centenary of José Saramago (1922-2010), to be celebrated on this date next year, the FEUP Library presents a selection of works by this writer. Novelist, playwright, chronicler and poet, Saramago left us a bibliography of a unique style, which challenges those who read it to leave their comfort zone.

But what is so special about the work and person of this writer that won him the highest literary award, the Nobel Prize for Literature, in 1998?

To find answers to this question, the FEUP Library Reading Club suggests several ways:

- visit the showcase dedicated to the author on the ground floor of the Library, choose and order a book (or several);

- review the recording of the session with guest Isabel Pires de Lima, in May 2011

- follow and participate in the centenary program, which can be consulted on the José Saramago Foundation page
