Portugal, a land rich in history and culture, is the birthplace of talented writers who have left a lasting legacy on world literature. From the dawn of writing to the present day, Portuguese authors have captivated readers with their unique ability to tell stories and express emotions.
Contemporary Portuguese authors have kept the country's literary tradition alive and vibrant, while exploring new themes and narrative styles.
Portuguese Author's Day is celebrated on 22 May!
In 1982, the date was established by the Portuguese Society of Authors (SPA), on the initiative of maestro Nóbrega e Sousa, to honour and praise national authors in all artistic and cultural fields.
Come and meet some of these authors who continue to enrich the Portuguese literary scene with their unique voices and their contributions to the art of contemporary writing.
